The 51st annual meeting of the Council on Botanical and Horticultural Libraries, Inc. (CBHL) will be held in Phoenix, May 14-17, 2019. The meeting, “Adapt & Flourish in a Changing Climate,” will be hosted by the Desert Botanical Garden.

The site of this year’s meeting, the Desert Botanical Garden, is celebrating 80 years of adapting and flourishing in a remarkable climate. In addition to touring the Desert Botanical Garden’s trails, attendees will be treated to up-close tours of the library, herbarium, greenhouses, and the newly-constructed Desert Conservation Laboratory. Special guest speaker, author David Yetman, will share his fascinating experiences and vast knowledge of the Sonoran Desert. And sought after speaker, Mary Ellen Bates, will offer attendees fresh perspectives on how today’s information professionals can see themselves and their collections as strategic resources and how they can communicate their value in ways that get heard. In addition, there will be opportunities to hear speakers and panels on a range of topics such as best practices for collections care and management, new ways to engage users as well as strategies for flourishing in an ever-changing digital landscape.

Additional highlights will include visits to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West, the Boyce Thompson Arboretum and a special evening performance of Ballet Arizona. Join us at this remarkable meeting!
